Portugal

F-16
Lockheed Martin enjoys a long-standing close relationship with the Portuguese armed forces. The Portuguese Air Force initially procured 20 F-16A/B fighters in 1994. Later, they added another 20 F-16s, which are in the process of being upgraded in Portugal to the latest Mid-Life Update (MLU) configuration. In June 2000, Portugal joined Norway, Denmark, The Netherlands and Belgium in becoming a member of the European Participating Governments (EPG), which commonly shares support and modernization of the F-16s and has close ties with the United States Air Force and Lockheed Martin.

C-130
Portugal operates six C-130H Hercules transports, which have made important contributions to international peacekeeping and humanitarian missions. These aircraft are supported by OGMA – Industria Aeronáutica de Portugal, SA, a Lockheed Martin-certified C-130 and P-3 service center, which demonstrated its capabilities by modifying one of the Portuguese Air Force aircraft to the C-130H-30 “stretch” configuration in 1991.

P-3P
For maritime patrol, search and rescue and antisubmarine warfare, the Portuguese Air Force has relied on six P-3P Orions since 1988, and recently procured an additional five P-3C aircraft from The Netherlands.  Portugal recently extended the serviceability of their Orion aircraft by contracting Lockheed Martin to re-wing and refurbish them. The Portuguese Army’s air defense assets include the Chaparral missile and the Portable Surveillance, Targeting and Acquisition Radar (PSTAR).
